PLA Small arms

probubly, they began popping up around that time in a few medias. the thing is balistic knives are more the worst of two worlds. Compramising range and accurcy of the pistol and rigidity of the knife for a all in one that lacks in both.
I know someone will try and dispute that, But a pistol with no sights is not a accurate weapon, and a hollow handle style knife tend too offer poor use as field knives.

Only handheld coldsteel wielded by a coldminded hart or 9mm mak, (silenced) and up will do the job!

A hollow-handled knife is generally best utilized as a survival tool (containing essentials) than combat implement.

The Advantage of the hollow handle is storage but most are poor survival or field knives suffering due too the weakness of the joint between the grip and the blade. hard field use can break that joint leaving the user with a blade and a grip not a knife.

A hollow handle would allow a knife to be well balanced for throwing.

Might not be the first thing you would want to do with your combat knife, but it does give you another option, with is always a good thing.

The structural weakness issue will only crop up with poor quality knives, if the QC is up to scratch, there should be no issue in terms of strength.

If the PLA is fielding these things, they would have been extensively field tested beforehand, and would have had to pass very strict criteria to be selected.

by a hollow handle I am referring too a knife built of two parts where the handle is mated too the blade not a single piece knife made with a open space in the handle. The "Survival" Hollow handle knife would suffer in this first because the handle would have the weight of the survival kit second because the weight of the grip would be different from that of the blade. when addressing the function of a field knife one must remember these blades are supposed too be used for survival in the Field. Although combat is a possibility there primary role would be field craft, that is building shelter, preparing defenses, Even preparing game. A few hollow handle survival knives are of the quality too stand up too such but I doubt these Shooting knives are.

a couple of years ago a leading German smallarms magazine (Visier) tested several so called "survival knives". Result none were up to their task; blades broke to easily etc., none was up to the real work. Endconclusion was that if you were planning to go to the countryside, just equip yourself with a cheap AK bayonet for a (dependable) knife and a small axe (for the rough work)! Cheap and efficient

Now obviously we are looking at a QBZ 95 with a Grenade launcher, but what has my attention is the muzzle. Is that a suppressor? Possible, Is it a Muzzle break? possible A blank firing attachment? Possible. I side with a Suppressor because other images do not show such a object including other Qbz95's with grenade launchers. Suppressors of this size are known Surefire's 556K for example.

New kind of muzzle break I reckon, too small for suppressor with something in the category of 5.xx mm munitions. And I remember there's another blank firing attachment already in use.

Too bad we can't see the side of the gun. If it is a muzzle brake, it may be ones that are similar to AEK-971
