Hello guys, I'm a new guy in this forum.
I want to ask a question about the CS/LS7 Submachine gun AKA the QCQ-171.
I've been wondering about why the PLA chose to put the charging handle of the QCQ-171 on the right side instead of the left side, just like other SMGs, such as MP5 and Scorpion EVO.

Anyone that knows about this? I'll appreciate some answers, and some sources would be cool.

The CS/LS7's charging handle is ambidextrous. The pictures in the link below clearly show the charging handle on the left side.

Yep, I DO know that the default CS/LS7 has ambidextrous charging handles. But for the PLA, they chose to only use the right-side charging handles for some reason.....

From Wikipedia the Carl Gustav 84mm is around 350m. I would think this (PBW001E) would be similar.
The rocket doesn’t seem to have any fins. It has to rely on spin to keep a straight path. Can it hit a target 300m away?

Considering other similar systems in existence (particularly the CG), have demonstrated it using spin stabilized ammunition, I don't see why that would be an issue.

If anything I'm surprised that the question is being asked -- is it not widely known and accepted that the rifled/spin stabilized Carl Gustaf have effective ranges in excess of 300m (if not even approaching 400m)?

The US Army's manual on the Carl Gustaf can be found here:

and lists an effective range of over 1km, although aiming it at those distances is likely quite difficult due to the low velocity of the projectile so windage and drop become big factors. There's no reason to believe the PBW001 would be any different, apart from velocity and shot mass. Remember the accuracy of a rifle isn't directly correlated to the length of the barrel.

I'm also curious why you're asking this. If you look at tank guns for example, fins weren't used until the ~70s or so, and tanks could make 2km shots well enough with out it, assuming the FCS was up to task.

Likely to preserve the AK-style manual of arms for familiarity purposes. The Type 79, 03, and I think the 191 all use right side charging handles too. There's no inherent advantage to left or right, although it is true right-handed shooters generally feel more comfortable with left side charging handles.

So......do you know why the PLA chose to use the right-side charging handle for their QCQ-171 SMG?
