It baffles me how they haven't made qbz191 keymod kit yet, they are teasing just the handguard yet haven't shown anything else for almost a year or two.
Why bother?
QBZ191 is not a commercial product so no need to offer something to appeal to those Keymod diehards. Even if they were to offer a semiautomatic version, Mlok won the mod wars. Besides the retrofit market supplied the mods not the OEM.
From the PLA and Norinco perspective the minimum to get the advantage is the aim. The want is a standard that is interchangeable. One optic, one laser/light, one foregrip. Only the SF guys need total custom. The main line infantry need just enough to have the advantages of optics and night vision. Keymod and Mlok were commercial at birth they came from the want to have all the tactical accessories without the added weight and bulk. From there they transitioned to military because American military sometimes are American sports shooters.
