What's the point of having a "dagger gun" then?
That pretty much sums it up. This is one of those things the Chinese got off the Soviets. The idea of a knife gun combined isn’t new. There have been lots of them. here is a triple threat version from the French.
Here an interesting take I photographed in the Colt collection last month.

yeah I know it’s more gun than knife.
here is a modern one that looks like it belongs to a triad.

The thing is as far as I can tell there is no actual benefit to a Knife gun or ballistic knife other than tacticool. None. You end up with the worst of both worlds a poor gun and a terrible knife. I see more practical applications for the KGB Lipstick gun.

The only reason I could think of for a Knife gun is to try and have a concealed weapon. The Soviet NRS though was introduced in the 1970s the improved NRS 2 in the mid 1980s, for the size and application the the Soviets had plenty of more practical pistols.
Now the Chinese designed take differs from the Russian. The QBS91 was a four shot revolver firing from a barrel in line with the blade along the hilt at the guard. So the blade points to the target as opposed to the Soviet single shot where the barrel was pointed out the pommel requiring the blade to point to the shooter. The Chinese apparently have an improved model the QBS11 but still why? A standard service pistol would be far superior.

Anyone mentions this yet?
I suspect the reason why it doesn’t get fanfare is that it’s a bit dated. Even by 2006 it was a little dated. Farther it’s one of those
As the video pointed out it’s not that “unique” the Russians have been using the APS series on which this is based since the 1970s with the more recent ASM DT and ADS. The unique aspect is the ammunition, however given the specialized mission that’s the norm. It’s such a niche role it needs niche ammunition. The preferred choice for such until about 2013 long flechette ammunition like that using in the QBS06. In the late 1990s the Russian ASM-DT was designed that was supposed to be able to switch between modified standard 5.45x39mm and 5.45x120mm underwater ammunition. It’s claimed they entered production though I have never seen proof. They more recently marketed the ADS Bullpup rifle though the ammunition has changed and now the new underwater ammunition is 5.45x39mm. Meaning that only 6 years after the QBS06 entered service the technology it’s based on was obsolete.
Farther insult to this is 2019 another 6 years after the ADS. DSG introduced a line of ammunition to the western military market the CAV-X.
DSG Cav-X is a supercavitaing ammunition in 5.56x45mm, 7.62x51mm or 12.7x99mm round able to be fired from suitable conventional weapons with ranges equivalent to their parent cartridge in air and effective ranges of 15m 5.56, 25m 7.62 under water with the exception of the 12.7x99 which is about 60m. So basically a weapon like the Sig Spear or FN Scar H chambered in 7.62x51mm and they can use Cav X both above and below the waves. With the same effective range in the water.
