Is the PLA/PAP replacing the 7.62x54R just for infantry general purpose machine guns, or for vehicles as well, such as the SGMT coaxial machine guns on all Chinese armored vehicles? Here's the video just in case.

No, the short recoil part is there mainly for reducing the recoil, 5.8*42 doesn’t kick that much ,so no need to add any complexity and weight to the system , rumor said it’s about the same weight with type-95 machine gun when both loaded( I’m not sure 50/100 rounds)is that system also used on the qjy-161? the gun looks identical to the qjy-201
QJZ-171's barrel reciprocates when firing, something not observed on older Chinese HMG like W85 below. Probably some kind of recoil reducing mechanism. The QJZ171 12.7mm machine gun for airborne and mountain troops.
I remember hearing rumors about the QJZ-171, that it also uses constant recoil , a lot of effort were put in to reduce the recoil and improve accuracy of bursts.QJZ-171's barrel reciprocates when firing, something not observed on older Chinese HMG like W85 below.
