A lot of the top cities seems to have a pretty big budget for their SWAT teams, who in turn seem to like to Gucci their gear up with fancy foreign imports.

That especially so in the 1990s and 2000s, major cities' police departments have the budget to import optics and accessories, and sometimes even firearms for their SWAT teams.
At sometime around 2010s then domestic sourced gears become a thing, as well as firearms that incorporated design features of those found on foreign designs. If I'm not mistaken, the law enforcement expo in Beijing is the launchpad for the domestic manufacturers.
In other words, the police department(s) first sample the foreign stuff, then the PAP took a lesser dip (firearms wise limited to Remington 700 series, that's the known case), but nevertheless China's exposure to foreign gears and firearms happened mostly in the law enforcement sector; military bit perhaps in the co-opt training and joint exercises but to field trial them is not so well known...

I think @hsinchong is conflating Hong Kong Police units. HKPD used G36 and Glock pistols as well as a number of other western arms well into the new millennium. However sanctions have prevented farther acquisitions.

CS/LS is the nomenclature used for export submachine gun class weapons from Norinco.
QCQ is the PLA type designation for a Suppressed SMG.
The two desegregations overall are for weapons of the same family with potentially high parts share. But the QCQ is likely a more refined iteration and type classified to PLA specifications.
Didn't see the gen 3 there. I never saw the gen 3 Type 95 with the PLA if it ever exists. But Canadians are getting Type 97 Gen 3.
The handle on top is replaced by this rail used to mount sights. The reviews are positive and the price is about 1000 Canadian dollars.
The "Gen 2" and "Gen 3" for the T97 were briefly mentioned at 1:10:05. They have no equivalence in the 95. The "Gen 2" for the 95 family (aka the QBZ95-1) has a completely different trigger group and a highly modified receiver compared to the "Gen 1" QBZ95, plus other improvements like a new gas regulator, new irons sights, new underbarrel grenade launcher mounting stud, etc. The Gen 2 and Gen 3 T97s are basically just a Gen 1 T97 with the iron sights chopped off and a flat top picatinny rail slapped on.
