Nothing yet. Besides it’s a why bother at this point. I mean okay hammer vs Striker but that’s no biggie. It’s already a modular design and polymer. The only thing it’s lacking vs the latest fashionable pistoleros is a mini dot plate, accessory rail and modular back strap. the mini dot doesn’t seem like something absolutely needed just yet the accessory rail is already on iterations of the gun. the back strap could be ignored or done by easy retrofit of offering replacement polymers shells like M17/M18.
The suppressed role is taken separately.
Norinco has options if the wanted but as is they have good enough. You can’t AP vs top armor with a pistol. So short of figuring out-how to build a phaser All things are equal.
if there was a pistol I would scratch my head about it would be the QSZ11.
that’s because you have a 7 round magazine in a compact pistol meant for concealed carry introduced fairly recently. When right after it came out the western makers started making 10-12 round capacity handguns in the same size range well being lighter. Mind you it’s not that big a deal as the people who would be packing such are the guys who wear stars on their shirts and have their own bodyguards.

Biggest issue with the QSZ92 is said to be build quality. Which is what ended up spawning the QSZ92G. Don't know how much it rectified the issue, but given that the Armed Police seems to have taken up a liking for it, it's gotta be at least passable. It added a rail too.

They've experimented a bit with accessories like red dots and compensators before, though it's yet to see consistent use

From what I've seen, the most notable users of the QSZ11 are pilots. 7 rounds of 5.8x21 doesn't seem reassuring lol, I heard they call it a "suicide pistol" as a joke

In the past such pistols types and “worse” (capacity wise) have been issued to escaping aviators. The USAF used to issue 6 shot .38 special revolvers. The World war 2 Germany Air Force issued Walter PPK.

Pocket pistols like the QSZ11 have been issued in military service as a weapon to specialists form whom even a service pistol might be to much. Primarily General officers, Doctors and rear liners with some to aviation arms. For the US that was M11 before that M15 General Officers Pistol before that the Colt Pocket hammerless. Germany used the H&K P7 before that the Walther PPK, Russia had the PSM and Makarov. Japan had the Baby Nambu.
Often this class traded capacity and caliber for compactness. They often favored (older) smaller lower velocity cartridges to get as light and as small a package as possible. The results were shorter range (mind you a pistol Isn’t known for long range shooting) about 20 yards vs 30. But it was convenient for carry.
For this they used single stack magazines even after double stack became the norm for the same caliber or automatic pistols in general. Until recently. Newer models or after market magazines for models like the Glock series not have increased capacity. That’s an increase in potential lethality as two rounds in a target is deadlier than one.

Has there been any news on a next-generation Chinese service pistol to replace the QSZ-92?
QSZ92's problems has been more or less addressed in QSZ92G (which the preceding events led to its creation was more of a "forced by competition" because of NP22), though so far only seen with the 9mm version used by PAP, it has yet been seen with army (5.8mm) version.

The next stage for service sidearm development in the near term is the inclusion of Rugged, always zeroed, always on, all-weather red dot sights. This will markedly improve the ability for soldiers to hit enemies under combat stress. As a last resort weapon, the ability to make rapid and reliable hits as easily as possible is of life and death importance.

Such an implementation can be made with either a new slide or modification to the existing slide, so existing platforms need not be replaced.

With the PLA introducing widespread optical sight use on rifles with the introduction of the QBZ 191 and major kit overhaul, this could be a possibility. But I don't see this as a priority for the PLA and doubt we will see it any time soon.

Why did the NP22 force the G's creation? Norinco gets paid either way.
