The NAR series comes in the CS/LR17 ( At least that is how I have seen it designated) in 5.56
While the new generation of modular rifle series take a trend of switching role by simply swapping out upper or lower body and could even done in the field, seems that nobody actually doing so, rather they keep the conversion at the armorer level, with modules available for mix-and-match according to needs, then get zeroed and deployed.View attachment 45156

And designated Marksmen rifles.
I am not sure about the CS/LR 17 or CS/LR18 I have seen these use both labels but they are Consistently marked NAR. looking over the details I think these are evolutions of the NAR 10 in turn an evolved type 81 expanded beyond just the 7.62x51mm version. they probably use a short stroke gas piston system and this far look like they use type 81 style controls. The Grenade launcher should be able to mount to all versions. but they don't seem as yet to be able to change caliber meaning a NAR762 only fires 7.62x39mm well a NAR 751 only fires NATO and neither thus far can use 5.56 except the NAR556.
There are some western systems that can be converted into other calibres but It's not really a need and truth be told it's mostly just to reduce parts numbers. Once a Conversion takes place for a military it's a one time deal and done at an armorer level, as modifications require changes to the bolt, gas system Springs and magazine well as well as barrel.
The NAR however seems to offer changing of weapon Role. So a Infantry carbine can become a pseudo LMG with a heavy barrel, or a Designated Marksman rifle with a match barrel, optic and bipod or a short barreled carbine.
The Rail systems use Keymod. This makes me wonder about how it handles the under barrel launcher attachment. Keymod is know to suffer issues of separation and damage under shock. During NSWC Crane Testing of MLOK a and Keymod, Keymod rails suffered damage in drop tests and Accessory separation from damage. there are only a few Rail mounted launchers most use a more permanent mounting hardware system in the form of a dedicated mounting system and reinforced mount to attach to the host weapon, because of the recoil of a 40mm launcher or other accessory weapon. So mounting a 40mm launcher on Keymod might be a bridge too far I wouldn't be surprised if Norinco followed what HK did on the XM8 and designed a dedicated handguard for the launcher.
.
A bit silly question but where is the trigger of the grenade launcher?Very clear that it's meant for special forces and not the average PLA soldier.
Some more pics here.
I think you set fire selector to grenade and fire with the rifle trigger.A bit silly question but where is the trigger of the grenade launcher?
Yeah The General infantry lack the training, parts and time to do the rebuild of a rifle. Adding a accessory is easy, but changing the way the weapon works is better left to an armorerWhile the new generation of modular rifle series take a trend of switching role by simply swapping out upper or lower body and could even done in the field, seems that nobody actually doing so, rather they keep the conversion at the armorer level, with modules available for mix-and-match according to needs, then get zeroed and deployed.
Fr production it's likely they would be.As for the CS/LR18, back when it was debuted at the Zhuhai exhibition we've heard that the Keymod slots they used ain't cut to spec, so they ain't genuine Keymod.
Actually M320 doesn't at least not most of the time. M320 can rail mount on the HK416 or HK417 rifle but for M4 it uses an adaptor. this is because the HK416 rail was designed to mount M320. But M4 and M4A1 were not. Unless M4A1 under goes a massive redesign to include a receiver extension and mounting bracket to the rail system. As for sturdiness of the mounting concerns, the M320 is mounted on the rail, so CS/LR18 could, for example, ditch the detachable rail on the top and bottom where firmness and stability truly matters.
The Rifle. On XM29 there were two selectors one for the Carbine that fired in auto of semi and the other that changed to the grenade launcher. Those were both on the lower receiver. Once in grenade mode the rifle trigger fired the grenade launcher.A bit silly question but where is the trigger of the grenade launcher?
