The North Command's primary purpose is to respond to crises in the Korean Peninsula. Shandong province, being so close to the Korean Peninsula, will obviously be mobilised in the event of a Korean crisis, hence its incorporation into the North Command.

Following this , the Yunnan Province is assigned to the Southern Theatre Command and as such I assume that the map posted above is correct (or at least more correct) than the one posted by Jamestown ...
But what about Guizhou (also Southern) and Hubei (now Central ?) provinces ?
Following my limited skills of drawing ... it would look like this:
Any corrections, mistakes included ... or any other suggestions ?

The linked page/article does not have any information on the commands. But your map correctly reflects what you stated: Yunnan and Guizhou in Southern, Hubei in Central.
Really ??? As far as I understand the text, it mentions the "南部战区某旅创新方式提高政治教育实效" (IMO Southern Thaetre Command units or so ...) and if I'm not mistaken, the 14. GA is based within the former Chengdu MR in Yunnan. Or am I wrong ??
