I like the first image a lot. Chinese and American brothers standing guard and got each other's back.

I agree. Too bad there is a row about arms to Taiwan that will put a hold on military cooperation.

An armored regiment under the Chengdu Military Area Command upgrades its training quality by means of carrying out coordinated training involving troops of different arms, holding confrontation drills by the troops of same profession and organizing cross-post concentration training. The photos taken on Jan. 27, 2010 show the tanks of the regiment in a field assault drill.

PLA Airborne new recruits shooting training in Northern Hubei.

Nice photos! Looking at these photos makes me wonder - don't they use hearing protection in PLA? I think I've seen artillerymen and mortar crew not using hearing protection as well.

I myself got tinnitus due to firing thousands of rounds and setting of explosives, even though I used double hearing protection (some exceptions). I can't imagine how many soldiers in PLA will be hearing damaged if they don't wear. :(

I have to say from what I hear and read, there is really no hearing protection. When I graduated from elementary school (1993), we went for a day exhibit at a garrison base. Part of the program was each one of us get to fire 5 blank rounds from a type 81. Neither us or the soldiers had any ear protection.

Beautiful Sanya, Hainan.

Why did they put a naval base THAT close to vacationing beaches?? YOu can see those people swimming. Don't they worry about their secrets being exposed like that?

In the US the Naval Air Station North Island is in a resort town of Coronado and so is NAS Oceana VA...

Also in San Diego the Sub base at Pt Loma is below Cabrillo National monument. You can see the whole base from up there. And all of NAS North Island.

But why? All the other kinds of bases are in the middle of nowhere...
