Re: Chinese military photos
ive always wondered why PAP dont utilize the full length ballistic shields instead of the half length shields shown. Wouldnt any wise gunsmen shoot at the exposed legs of the PAP that is holding the ballistic shield.
I thought the legs are such small targets and always moving fast. It would be so difficult to actually hit legs on a consistent basis, especially when the shooters are under heavy fire since the SWAT won't simply hold the shield and march forward (all the type 95's will be aimed at you and bullets raining down on you). That's why, in SWAT, they usually teach people to shoot the center of mass, the chest area. It is such a large target that it can be easily hit even when the guy is moving and dodging. And of course, no one can move their chest as fast as their legs.
So combining the benefit of increased mobility and the low probability of getting hit on the legs, the decision of using a small shield should be easy to be made. In fact, I don't remember seeing Western SWAT holding a full-body-length shield on an assault. I've only seen those full-body-shields been used in riot control.
