In a recent TV demonstration, the JS2 7.62mm bolt-action sniper rifle was used to shoot an apple held by a female reporter at 100m distance.

Don't think there's any fire, just the white apple sauce reflecting sunlight. It looks like some kind of pyro-tech thingy... A bullet going through an apple shouldn't give out a flash / fire-explosion like that.

One thing that I don't understand in the PLA training. Why are the camouflage that they are using does not quite match the environment that they are in?
It's not an explosion per say, but rather what happen after the bullet exited the apple. The speed, momentum and spinning of the bullet causes so much internal damage to that apple that when it came out the other end it carries with it the rest of the "apple sauce" on its trail.
I understand the explosion part. I've shot enough watermelons, oranges, water bottles, etc... to know what bullet penetration would look like. A water bottle filled with colored H2O is a beaut. I was confused about the "flash". The reflection might be the cause as explained above...
Hmm...could be the tiny water particles that from the apple reflecting from the sunlight. I do like the pretty girl though, she can hold my apple any day (I probably get into trouble by moderator for that).
As long as it's not your ba//s, it should be OK...
Yeah, I've never seen reflection that bright though... Also, I'm not sure such stunt would be allowed in a professional army. It's more of a circus stunt that anything else, IMO.
