Re: Chinese SWAT/Police units training pics

What makes you think they were foreign? They had their back to the cam. Is it that any "professional looking Chinese military" must be instructed by foreigners??? They should be Chinese as they wore Chinese SWAT uniforms...

No, their clothing/uniform look US styled and their body frame is a lot bigger. Usually US military background guys work out and hence have bigger body size. Chinese guys don't seem to go to the gym, especially don't drink protein shakes, hence smaller size. I'm not saying it's genetic, just different lifestyle. I have seen a lot of Chinese guys with big body frames like those guys in the picture, but they live in the US and go to the gym, and yes, drink protein shakes regularly.

The biggest giveaway is their baseball cap. Chinese military caps' eyeshades (the front piece) are not curved that way, usually flatter. But in the pics, they're really curved, typical military style ones I see on US officers.

Just a quick question about this image:

What kinds of boots are those? They're like half black, half camo. It's a mix that looks strange to me because I've never seen it before. So far, every other image I've seen of the Chinese uniforms either have the full black shiny boots, the dusty tan colored ones, or those ones that look like camouflaged tennis shoes. These even have a little emblem/logo patch on the side.

EDIT:
Actually, after looking at it for a little longer, it looks like they're shiny black shoes with some weird long extension on the back that goes up the calf. And the camo is a separate sock thing. Or I dunno, maybe I actually saw it right the first time? Can someone else fill in the details here?

They're just like these, with partial leather and partial canvas on the high ankle area.

I think they are simply boots with camo on the sides.

I didn't know that was a common type of military boot. Any recommendation on where I could find more good info on PLA gear like this? Not on the usual flashy stuff like guns tanks, jets or missiles, but smaller items like these boots, vests, etc.

You can go to a local Army/Navy Surplus stores or go online whether on Ebay or Alibaba, they sell them.

Who told you Chinese guys don't go to gyms? Although I am not the best person to discuss Chinese life styles since the last time I was in China was about 21 years ago, that statement simply cannot be true, especially not nowadays when Chinese diet is now very meat-central.

The curved cap tongue is an American thing and not limited to the military. I wear cap all the time and I do keep my cap tongue highly curved. This can be easily adapted by the Chinese who are studying American style of everything closely.

As sdleio pointed out, they are Chinese. Sdleio even provided info as to which govn't agency they are from. Check post #69. Also, the blue uniform is clearly Chinese. Many of the photos about PLAN depolyment to Aden show PLAN Spec Ops wearing the same style blue uniform. It's absolutely impossible for any foreign instructors to wear Chinese uniform. Also the bulky frame could also be the body armor.
