Chinese 105mm have gun launched AGTMs, as it was the case with ZTQ-15. It isn't that hard to increase the penetration of the 105 considering it uses single piece ammo which allows for much longer rods than two-piece 125mm gun. The only real issue with 105mm is inadequate HE shells due to limited caliber.Sounds pretty unlikely and even if true it would have had even better penetration if they kept the velocity and ammunition shape the same while maintaining the 125mm calibre. Not to mention the inability to fire ATGMs as well as the massive decrease in the power of the HE-rounds. Although again I must caution that this is only true if the 125mm is being abandoned for MBTs.

Totally possible if it's using a rifled barrel. Smooth bore HE are limited by shell aerodynamic stability issues much more than their rifled counterparts. You just have to use a brand new designed round. Actually a new 105mm HE round weighting a staggering 26kg is already developed and may already be in use. There is going to be stability issues with making a longer traditional shell, but I guess you could fire what basically is an unguided HE fin stabilized rockets out of the barrel like the Soviet "Bur" 125mm rockets from the Object 775. Or maybe unusually long fin stabilized HE shells. But modern HE-FS are already pretty long ngl. Spin stabilized projectiles start to suffer stability issue once L/W ratio gets too large which is why APFSDS projectiles are fin stabilized instead of spin stabilized. While 26kg is good for 105mm it falls behind the 33kg weight for 125mm HE shells like the famous 3OF26 and hence likely will have less charge, and even if you can make the wall ultra thin to somehow fit the same amount of charge as a 125mm shell you'll basically now get 0 fragmentation because your shell wall is ultra thin thus kinda of defeats the purpose of HE-FRAG.Totally possible if it's using a rifled barrel.
