Other nations our group of nations pursuing such researches are US (F/A-XX ), Russia (Mig-41), Europe (FCAS) and Japan (F-3 fighter).

The programme hasn't been named yet.

Additionally, searching "the diplomat chinese sixth generation" yields results mostly about General Secretary Xi, not a fighter aircraft. The validity of the Chinese reports are questionable at best.

6th gen will require much better engines and engine technologies than those available today. Either sticking with turbofan tech or completely new methods of propulsion. Either way, existing 5th gen parameters will need to be improved. If unmanned or optioned as such, new airframes are almost definite. Better construction methods, materials, stress limits, greater temperature ranges from rapid accelerations and quickly varying altitudes. All of these on top of the "software" and sensors. 6th gen needs to be different and significantly better in every way to justify its distinction. Much like how F-22 is significantly better in almost every conceivable parameter over F-15 (except costs of course). The more I think about it, the more I feel airframe of 6th gen should be considerably different especially if unmanned.
