Unaccompanied Y8’s?
I assume you mean the Y-8 ASW. Most anti submarine planes fly unescorted. Some examples are the Australian P-8 in South China Sea and the Canadian CP-140 in Yellow Sea that were in the news recently being intercepted by PLA.
On June 21, around 500 kilometres from Tokyo, in the Izu Islands, at least two Chinese warships and a supply ship were found. One of these vessels seems to be the Lhasa, the second Type 055 class stealth destroyer and one of China’s most technologically sophisticated warships.
Since June 12, a number of Chinese warships have been cruising in waters close to Japan, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense.
James Brown, an associate professor of political science at Temple University in Tokyo, claimed that “Russia and China are clearly displaying their strength” in this situation. “Japan is really worried about these operations. The Japan Self-Defense Forces’ resources would also be put under strain by having to monitor the movements of both Russian and Chinese warships.”

@Storm bombardier They demand FON, now they got it what more do they want...lol The SCS issue is done and dusted, China had won, now the stage is being replicated in the Second Island chain using their FON policy. Like I said the Collective West didn't think this thru and is boomeranging back, what is good for the gander is good for the goose....lol
That is on the security side what about the economics? Here the Ukraine War is a blessing, its a rude awakening for all of us especially the Collective West, on the good side there is now a restraining force and a rethink about hegemonic policy, the bad it may beholden the Russian as they realized they're strong after winning this economic war. So the best way to navigate is form your owned Independent policy that Japan had regrettably realized.

There was the time just few years ago when China complained about US FON, many Chinese asked what would US think if PLAN sailing close to Pearl Harbour or coast of California, to which some Americans (including officials???) answered "that is fine".
I think as USA owns Japan, Japanese can not have any other feelings than being fine with PLAN sailing up to 12km near Tokyo bay. What is all the complaints when PLAN is still 500km away?
Japan should know very well that being US ally means that Japan will get beaten first when shit hit the fan. That is what an ally meant for USA.
Japan is well equipped with knowledge of Chinese culture and language, they should very well understand the saying "你做初一，别怪我做十五“ or "己所不欲勿施于人".
