Some say it is only a DIY amphibious vehicle, may be a conversion of Land Tamer
It is neither a DIY by some fanboy, nor something from PLAN.
Here is the screen grab. The first two characters are "National Defense". The third character is blurry but looks to be "教" (education). The vehicle also bares the National Flag which should not be there if it is made by some fanboy.
I guess this is a vehicle made for training purpose for local militia or reserve troop, but nothing related to combat equipment.

PLAN will be well aware of the shortcomings of the Shang boats, one reason they only built 6. Still, good enough to train crews and commanders on for the next generation. It seems PLAN took the opportunity to give as many submariners as possible the chance to train against first rate ASW opposition in the form of QE CVBG.
I would imagine USN and even Japanese ASW would be superior to the UK's. But it is a fantastic opportunity for both sides. Information surely wouldn't be disclosed in their entirety. Maybe there were more PLAN subs shadowing and maybe the Brits found them but didn't give that away. It's certainly impossible for us to know if each respective side wouldn't truly be able to tell by the nature of how this works.
Quite unlikely the Type 093s would be allowed to run in wartime conditions. Especially against potential adversaries. SIGINT during exercises with even friendly nations usually occur without revealing wartime condition capabilities of platforms especially leading platforms. We know PLAN is behind on SSNs but they still would be quite uncomfortable shadowing adversary navies using full abilities. It would be like sending J-20 far into the western pacific during a Japanese and American naval exercise... without LL to enhance RCS.

The subs got pinged. It doesn't matter if you're quiet when you are pinged. My bet is that the subs deliberately got close enough to record the QE's sound signature, and it doesn't matter if they are detected or not as long as they collected the ship's sound signature, such as the noise of its propellers, engines, induction motors. Probably got a truckload too. I don't even think they even tried to hide, for the purpose of sending a message. The reason why 093s are used instead of 039s is because the SSNs are capable of keeping up with the carrier.
