Do you buy the theory that the PLAN is going to test nuclear propulsion in an icebreaker before it constructs the first nuclear carrier?

I think it's a reasonable idea, it doesn't seem particularly controversial to me.
I was optimistically hoping for it to be laid down after Type 003 launches next year, so maybe laid down 2023 or 2024. When it launches I wouldn't know, but I was hoping (not necessarily expecting) for construction to start in 2023 or 2024.
I'm ignorant about these matters as it's not my expertise and I don't have the sources you guys have either so I'm always happy to be humbled and learn something new.
Sure -- so our information regarding the CVN project has been/is scant at best, but I don't think there was any ever real expectation, rumors or proper projection (both recently as well as in the more distant past) that would've seen the first CVN start construction right after the first 003 (or the first conventional CATOBAR) was launched.
I think even going as far back as the late 2000s and early 2010s, it was expected that there would likely be some time between the first conventional CATOBAR and the first nuclear CVN CATOBAR, keeping in mind this was many years before construction of 003 began and before we even knew what designation the first conventional CATOBAR would receive.

I know this is purely guesswork at this stage, but based on your assumptions, do you think it is more likely than not that China will be constructing 2 CVNs at once at some point (perhaps in the 2030s).
I'm sure this is a big feat as the US only has the ability to build one at a time if I'm not mistaken.
I think it's plausible in the 2030s for that to happen yes, but of course that's quite far into the future. Come 2025-2030 we'll be able to have a more definitive answer I suspect.
