I was thinking it was more like a more accurate and lethal grenade launcher. Probably useful for taking out annoying targets like snipers or people hiding behind windows in a distance.

Or we could launch small drones for ucav or to seek and destroy entrenched targets.

seems very sniper heavy. I wonder if PLA's reconnaissance is following NATOish doctrine of using snipers as a reconnaissance element.
They are probably taking the opportunity to show off their coolest toys.
