A friend of mine in the Navy told me what they saw from the recent mobilization in Fujian in response to the Taiwan incident was very sloppy. It was on par with what we saw in Ukraine. China has the equipment but they just don't know how to organize and mobilize. It's a learning process so we'll see if China learned from these recent exercises.
Your friend in the US navy either works for the Intelligence branch or he's rank is pretty high for him to be able to ascertain with a pretty quick assessment on the performance of the recent PLA exercise in Taiwan. AAR don't take place when the exercise has just finished and to compare a land war in Ukraine to Naval engagement with 2 different military doctrines is frankly asinine.

Never heard of any modern PLA ship disaster for the last 10 years...!
If your Navy Friend is from the US Navy, let me remind him about the USS Fitzgerald crashing into a gigantic container Ship, USS Bonhomme catching on Fire due to negligence and a Seawolf Submarine crashing into who-knows-what. All these disaters occured within the last 5 years.....in Peacetime....! From this small sample, I would deduce that the Chinese Navy is far more Professional and organised than the 'Rambo-style' US Navy.

Is it too small a sample to make any judgement....? Maybe....but that is exactly what many so-called US 'experts' or 'anal-ysts' do when talking about the Chinese Military. They pick on the tiniest flaws and make a mountain of it. Using the same yardstick for both the USN and the PLAN, we can correctly conclude that the Chinese Navy is more capable with the platforms that they have, judging on recent records.

I should have put an asterisks saying these are not my beliefs and I don't share the same sentiment. He was referring to footage that were public and from what the US Navy sees (which may not be much at all). I believe it's because it's a peacetime operation but in his opinion even then it's still quite disorganized. This is also the sentiment being shared by people around him in the US Navy.

I don't see how it is disorganized though and even if it were, it still achieved what it was set out to do anyways in an extremely short amount of time. Within these last 3 years, I've learned to put my trust in the CPC knowing what they're doing even if we don't see the full picture at first.

Well our fellow SDF member @5unrise has a compilation video of the Fujian mobilization exercises on Eurasia Naval Insight. Not really sure what's "sloppy", other than perhaps the first clip with the armored marine troops driving close to the beach crowd. The clip is quite short though so it's hard to tell what the context is too. The fact is that in a realistic scenario there'll be encounters with civilians along the way. Anyway we didn't actually get much amateur footage on the ground, nothing like Ukraine at all where the buildup was all over Twitter for months.

As for the US Navy friend, maybe they saw something else for them to say it's "sloppy", but honestly it just comes off as a typical American "knock you down a peg" comment.
