Chinese HQ-7B air defense missile systems in realistic training

An air defense brigade with the PLA 13th Group Army conducted an air defense confrontation drill at an artillery range on August 8, aiming to hone troops’ field air defense capabilities.

Soldiers assigned to the PLA 13th Group Army use a type of vehicle-mounted radar to detect aerial targets and fire HQ-7B short-range air defense missile systems at simulated aerial targets during a realistic training exercise on the plateau of northwest China’s Qinghai Province on August 8, 2016.

The HQ-7B is the latest version, based on an indigenous 6×6 armored chassis. It was first revealed somewhere in 2009. This air defense system is widely used by the Chinese armed forces. It is also being proposed for export customers as the FM-90. This air defense system has been exported to Pakistan.

This is pretty big news, if fk-3 really got a HQ designation. Looking back at what promo materials said for FK3 it is clear it's really a new system, not so much as variant of ks1. Missile itself looks different, its guidance mode may be similar (command plus semi active) but i guess that's part of the low-end cheap mix. And 27km ceiling and 100 km slant range are definitely respectable. If half of the remaining hq2 units (20ish or so?) are equipped with it, it'll be a nice upgrade for PLAAF's SAM forces.

Impossible to be exact in more since 3 years SOC the specialist for SAM going for Jane's and for new good infos...

So for give an idea i have about for AF only 200 HQ-2, 130 HQ-12 on 700+ SAM launchers.

HQ-2s need to go, China has so many variant of much much modern SAM ..... not sure what the reason of still keeping them
Easy to say but only 15 years ago many many HQ-2, J-6 etc... AF have again 33 on 75 Rgts with old types Q-5, J-7 and first J-8...
China is gone from very very far away for the quality in 1990 about on 3500 fighters and bombers the " best " yet outdated was about 500 J-7 with some H-6... !!! it takes time.
