anyone know if the wikipedia claim about optional missile-armed PGZ09 is credible?
This is the only photo I’ve seen that PGZ-09 has missiles mounted. This could be a prototype as none of the production/in-service PGZ-09 has been spotted with missiles mounted. However this could be more of a doctrine decision than a technical/capability decision, PLA’s own 625 SPAAG only mounts 4 manpads whereas the export version mounts 8 missile that’s far more capable, perhaps PLA is pretty confident of their brigade level SAM component and/or it is a way of risk reduction by not putting all the capabilities in a single unit type.
