USAF is about 150 hours on average, according to this:


I once heard they also have different ways of counting the flying hours. In the end PLAAF numbers are more conservative, because NATO's flying time also include when the jet is not flying (with engine started)

The simulation is getting more and more advanced very very quickly ... it will reduce the need of real flying time. NOTE : I am not saying a simulation will replace the real flying experience

Flight hours in average yet nomaly NATO countries at less 180 hours/year ( Regulation ) some countries a little less recent years 160 - 170 but now soon again to 180, USAF before sequestrations up to about 200+ !
USN fighters with a job more difficult fly a little more.

Russia actualy 120 h during years down 30 - 50 hours ! for fighters pilots also ofc

Also Transports aicratfs by ex fly more coz more long missions, greater distance to inferior speed.

It is always mentionned Israelis with much A2A combats and US fighter pilots are the best, to consider also USAF and USN have severals Agressors Sqns with jets China have one, Russia seems have one on Mig-29 to Astrakhan.

UK, France and some others have one unit but using trainers Hawk etc...

I think the number is very make sense.

Just info for all of us in here, in 2016 alone Japan scramble 851 times to intercept Chinese Flights.
That's mean China's Air Force send their Aircraft more than Twice a day to East China Sea and border with japan.

Not including, Chinese Air Force Patrols in South China Sea, border with vietnam, myanmar, Border with india in Tibet, Western Region of China in Xinjiang, Yellow sea, Border with Korean peninsula, and also another Hot zone, like Taiwan Strait.

Crazy !! Their Air Force really getting more active day by day..

The 1,168 scrambles were the most since records began being kept in 1958, besting the previous high of 944 — a figure that came at the height of the Cold War in 1984.

Of the total, 851 scrambles, or 73 percent, came in response to Chinese flights, 280 more than in the previous fiscal year. The figure was the largest since the Air Self-Defense Force began publicizing the number of scrambles against each country.

A PLANAF J-15 carrier-borne fighter on full load reportedly came into collision with a flock of birds shortly after takeoff during recent exercise. With left engine damaged and burning, the fighter jet was for a brief while at risk of stalling. With the help of his team and the control tower, pilot Yuan Wei successfully landed the aircraft before situation worsens. No one was harmed in this incident thanks to skilfulness of the personnels involved.

A hand of applause for their bravery.
