Ayi: It's not a big problem

Iirc it's possible for transfers to also be preceded by removal. Seems unideal but nothing big. We'll have to wait.
The term 免职 in Chinese civil service context could mean either normal staff shuffling (no wrong doing) or being fired (caused by wrong doing or incompetence). I am leaning toward the former unless additional derogs emerge in the coming days or weeks.

Maybe it's just retirements, staff replacements.

Sorry never kind. 光荣退休 (retirement with honour) appears to have been confirmed for Dr. Yang Wei.

At 62, it is still a bit young for someone at such key position. I wonder why AVIC didn’t just let him finish the WS-15 equipped J-20A project first (like officially entering service with PLAAF) before retirement. I mean it is THE project under his name.

“免职” is not a disciplinary measure, but a form of organizational processing. It ends up either with Tan Ruisong or Zhou Xinmin (both of which are “免职”). We can only wait for time. But I prefer transfer/retirement.

What's more important is that the "CaiXin" is not an official media but an independent financial media. Therefore, the “免职” is never a term given by the official side.

Currently, the only thing for sure is that Yang Wei's resume is taken off from avic.

Otterman confirms it’s just change of responsibilities.
