Because you can jam Beidou signals, having a dual receivers makes complete jamming much more difficult. The electronic cost should not be that great.

well, China can jam Beidou for selected areas for enemy, obviously not to Chinese weapons
Excuse me it’s still today for me.
Already discussed in the J-10 thread … and in fact I had a long and most interesting chat yesterday with the stuff from Aviation Week concerning these numbers since I tried to get in contact with the author especially on what's their source and discussing my opinion that I rate these numbers - for the Flankers - too high!
The result was that they even showed me their raw data which looked indeed very reasonable.
Also interesting, they use a very similar system ONLY based on open source data like me and have NO contacts to AVIC/SAC.
As it seems it was an error made by the design-department, which „translated“ the annual numbers into this graphic a bit in a wrong way.

Looks like they painted it? I'm inclining towards the latter, but who knows.
Yup, definitely painted in service colours, yellow paint would be easy to spot.
