Sino-Su-34 a-like? Would make sense in that SAC have a lot of experience with Flanker-derived designs but OTOH not the kind of stealth or range we're expecting for JH-XX.

Can anyone identify the blurred airframe in the background? The image was taken at Shenyang. I'm not sure what it is, but it could just be a Flanker or some other known airframe in a state of assembly. According to the yellow placard in the second image, the location is Shenyang's new equipment testing/integration service center, or something along those lines.
It’s really just a support structure. No friggin idea why they gave it the mosaic treatment.
DoD 2021 reportThe People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and PLAN Aviation together constitute the largest aviation forces in the region and the third largest in the world, with over 2,500 total aircraft and approximately 2,000 combat aircraft
Increasing by 300 aircrafts ??The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and PLAN Aviation together constitute the largest aviation force in the region and the third largest in the world, with over 2,800 total aircraft (not including trainer variants or UAVs) of which approximately 2,250 are combat aircraft (including fighters, strategic bombers, tactical bombers, multi-mission tactical, and attack aircraft).
Dear Mama Senate, we need money, lots of money.

Or... perhaps you're underestimating SAC and CAC's combined capacity, since we're considering the range of possibilities here. Given SDF's standard of rigour (which I appreciate), the conclusions we draw about numbers and ORBAT is often out of date.Capacity of SAC and CAC combined is around 150ish for one year. Either they miscounted the in 2020 or, far more likely scenario, they copied the number off some Sina military writer, who pulled his number out of his own rearend.
