only if they pursue Kawasaki P1.. otherwise P-8 Poseidon equivalent require WS-20 type machine.

I remember a fairly credible guy on weibo that said something about the possibility of a 200t class twin jet for AEWC and other utility purposes

Well, from what I've read the Poseidon's engines are capable of 120 kN thrust each. That should be fairly easy for China now given that its current high-bypass engines like the WS-20 or CJ-1000's military derivative produce north of that.

P-8 Poseidon have CFM56 Engines. absolutely matching with WS-20.

yes. this is a credible rumor. 150-200 tons class twin Engine jet for AEWC and other utility purposes.

budget constrain.

there are already too many programs going on.. i don't think PLAN/PLAAF can afford another costly program.

In that case a militarized C919 would make the most sense. The resources would also make the indigenized civilian C919 happen faster.
