you see the blade antenna on the vertical tailfin?

Yes I do so it means it's some kind of signals intelligence aircraft

It also means PLAAF has moved on from Y-8 platform, if they are building ELINT on Y-9 platforms as well as Y-9 transport cargos must mean Y-9 platform is good to go

Isn't KJ-500 also not a Y-9 platform, finally after all the years Y-9 platform has become a operational platform for many types of aircraft

How long before we see a Y-9 ASW that would be good

You are correct, it seems as if finally also the special ops types are now based solely on the Y-9 ... like the Y-9GX-6 ASW already does from the beginning.

It makes sense to have all the newer built high new aircraft use the Y-9 platform since that would reduce the need to continue having two different assembly lines and supply chains. Although, it's still hard for me to tell the difference between a Y-9 and Y-8 Category III platform.

I think virtually every new build GX aircraft beginning from KJ-200 used the "category iii" platform.

It's funny seeing Y-9 enter service after KJ-200 despite both having virtually the same airframe (and KJ-200 technically being a more technologically advanced aircraft) as there is also virtually no difference between Y-9 and cat iii, if anything it maybe more accurate to call all the cat iii GX planes Y-9 variants.

Or maybe Y-9 should be a KJ-200 variant, given the former entered service first...

Wow nice! 3rd and 4th units are due to be delivered sometime this year Pakistan air force personal have been in China over the last few years training for these rotodome AWACS

Added to the Swedish Erieye balance beams they will provide PAF with much needed AWACS coverage

If these four serve well I hope more orders for these medium sized AWACS can be placed, four more KJ-500 would be a good opition

Finally new serials for the PLANAF aircraft ?? Let me try the "2" as the first number that would indicate 2. Division ... and another guess the "4" indicating 4. Regiment !! ... and the middle numbers "01" meaning aircraft 1 !

What do You think or again something completely different ?
