Where in the article did she quote Pinkov?
I think he's being sarcastic. I'm not well verse on this. Can someone tell me who this Pinkov is and why is he having issues with Deino?
Pinkov is nickname for Andrei Chang, who is Canadian Chinese guy who is owner of Kanwa Defense Review magazine that focuses on China military development.
I subscribed to this before, so I can summarize it as 30% OK interesting news on Chinese development, and 70% iffy news with slight denigration of Chinese IQ and capabilities/China threat to play to Western egos of superiority or military industrial complex .
So overall, he is trash and others say he has anti China bias, which I agree. Like a semi Gordon Chang who says Chinese not capable of bad guys etc but does it in semi-subtle way.
Exactly, the Pinkovs and Gordon Chang's of the world has a solid rice bowl and full time job by reaffirming Western egos on Chinese weakness/incapability OR playing into their agenda of "China Threat" to justify more defense spending.
I agree with the cognitive dissonance that China is both too weak and a strong threat at same time.
Umberto Eco famously said you can identify Fascism propaganda by “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”. The enemy is both too strong and too weak.

Probably since I made a very stupid mistake after a long hard day at work, when I saw he spammed a certain Chinese FB site with several of his YouTube videos - "The Chinese continue to clone the Russian fighter. Su35 in China", "The Chinese Air Force does not effectively use Su35, How does Su35 target Taiwan?", "Where is the carrier-based aircrafts of the Chinese aircraft carrier?" and "Chinese Air Force equipped Su30MK2 and Su30MKK fighters with domestic weapons" … all I did was to post if not better to stop posting/spreading his BS videos.
He immediately ran into wild-boar modus! … and since then we have open war on all front in the internet.
The question on who he is is a it confusing: He seems to be a Chinese by birth named Chang Yihong; or Mr Chang – Andrei Chang – born in Yunnan. … he most often hails on Kunming Yunan Province, studied Chinese language for his undergrad degree, then went to Japan. Allegedly in the mid-1980s, there he studied for international nations majoring in Soviet/Russian politics – other say he studied contemporary Soviet politics – at the Aoyama College University.
Some say in Japan he “cheated” his Japanese citizenship after marrying his Japanese wife. … later he went to Toronto and founded Kanwa Defence Review. For some time, his articles were published in professional military magazines such as Jane's Defense Weekly and others, but this has dramatically changed.
By his own account, he is well versed in Japan, the UK and Russia, frequently visiting military chiefs and military conventions but his military commentary was widely valued on the one side (his fans) while they caused a lot of controversy at the same time (on the other side).
In Forums he has a very low reputation due to his ego and often most arrogant and insulting behaviour: For example, he charged 50$ US from anyone who wanted to get on his mailing list for his newsletter, at that time he did not have a magazine per se. Later on, he used a lot of photos from Chinese forums and social media accounts which he never credits, and he even went so far as to remove the original personal watermarks and author names to use them in his Kanwa Defence publications as his own images. As a consequence, Chinese community started to add a tag "Use by PKF forbidden" on a lot of photos - what cased him to be in rage - but this alone might not be the problem alone, but he demanded to no longer use of any of his photos used in his Kanwa publications and wanted to sue anyone who uses "his" images on any internet site.
I know some of these stories and he wanted to rip off myself several years ago - he demanded 200$ for an “exclusive J-10 image” which was already online all over the internet - when I researched for my first book.
The most funny part on him is his name Andrei Pinkov! According to an explanations in the Internet I found, he seems to be convinced his ability on military is at least equal to Marshall Georgy Zhukov (Georgi Konstantinowitsch Schukow) and therefore he chose the name not only for admiring Zhukov but for self-appreciation also since – and here I’m not sure – Pinkov is combines the part "Pin" (?) meaning “equal to” in Chinese and Zhukov to “Pinkov” as “being equal to Zhukov”
And so the story goes on and on ...
Wow. Thanks for the update. Sounds like some piece of work. When I was a lurker here at the beginning of J20 flight in front of Secretary Lock at around 2011. And J31 dumpling. I noticed there was a guy postonh a lot. Was he the guy wearing a Mao hat?

I don't think he is Han chinese, He is ethnic Miao and hold grudge against China. I think his major in University is Russia that is why he is so enamored with Russian Not sure if he live in Japan for a while but his wife is Japanese
