I can't believe no main media (or specialized in defense) picked up on this FMS. For me it is a major announcement. I hope I am on something big ;)

FMS of MK 41 Vertical Launch Systems May Indicate Purchase of LCS or DDG by Saudi Arabia
Although there was some talk of a Burke or two for Saudi Arabia in 2011, I think it is very unlikely that it will be a Burke.

However, buying some of Lockheeds uparmed LCS that they have been promoting is much more likely. The largest, most heavily armed included the Frigate version of AEGIS and Mk-41 VLS. That would make a lot of sense for them, andf they can afford it.

Israel Signed a Contract with Germany & TKMS for 4 Modified MEKO 80 Patrol Corvettes
According to the German sources, the future Israeli Navy patrol vessels are based on the MEKO 80 designed and built by German group ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS). MEKO 80 patrol corvette is a slightly reduced version of the MEKO 100 (of which 6 were built for the Royal Malaysian Navy and one under construction in Poland for the Polish Navy).

All four vessels will be built in Germany by TKMS while systems outfitting (combat management system, sensors and weapons) will most likely be conducted in Israel. Weapons fit may even include anti-aircraft the new medium-range surface to air missile system Barak 8 and MF-STAR multifunction AESA radar both systems developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

TURKEY (USA)

The United States has shelved the handover of decommissioned frigates HALYBURTON and THACH to Turkey … Congress in late December approved transfer of six PERRY class frigates to Mexico (2) and Taiwan (4), but excluded Turkey over political concerns, citing strained relations with Israel and Greek Cyprus.
This will make US diplomacy in the area even more difficult.

Iranian-Navy-Fends-Off-Pirates.jpg
World Maritime News said:
Two Iranian Navy vessels managed to repel a group of eight pirate skiffs that were approaching an Iranian product tanker in the Gulf of Aden, Iran’s FARS news agency informed.

Having detected the threat the Navy opened fire on the skiffs some 120 km southeast of the city of Al-Mukalla, Yemen, causing the pirates to flee the area.

No damage has been reported to the oil tanker.

The two warships, Jamaran destroyer and Bushehr logistics vessel, form 32nd flotilla, that has been in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden since November 2014.

This is the fourth intervention of the flotilla since the beginning of its patrolling mission, the Tehran Times writes.
Iranian warships joined anti-piracy efforts in the Gulf of Aden in 2008 and have since foiled over 150 pirate attacks on merchant vessels and oil tankers, according to the navy’s data
.
