Update to story on Pakistani shipment of artillery ammunition to Ukraine. Another shipment on top of the shipment in January was sent in February according to a March 5 story from the Economic Times in India. I am very disappointed the Chinese government has not stepped in to compensate Pakistan and stopped this from happening. Just imagine if we are in a desperate hour with the US fighting against us and Russia does little to help us. How would we feel? That's how Russia feels now. Russia will be left bitter towards us by this experience and they will not vigorously answer our request for help if it is ever our turn to fight.

Pakistan is risking losing access to the RD-33 engine sales with this stitch. But then again what to expect when the US basically couped Khan out of Pakistan. For what it's worth Kazakhstan has allegedly done even worse even after Putin basically saved Tokarev's bacon after the US/Turkey coup attempt in Kazakhstan.

At first, I also thought this is a total betrayal by Pakistan to arm a US ally against a Chinese ally, but that's not what it looks like from Pakistan's perspective. Russia, to China is our main ally against America. Russia, to Pakistan, is the main arms supplier to India. Russia is the backbone to India's missiles, aircraft, submarines, aircraft carriers, etc... These Russian weapon systems are all there sitting in India waiting to take Pakistani lives... and the few that make it past incompetence-caused damage/destruction or fratricide may actually end up fulfilling that purpose. So for Pakistan, there are no tears shed for arming a Russian adversary, especially if the price is right.

I totally missed this news, but as it seems, this is the first image of an operational - or soon to be so - JF-17C Block 3 "Thunder" with the serial number 22-30X and tail art of No. 16 Squadron "Black Panthers" based at PAF base Minhas.

I was thinking wrongly that the vertical tail of JF-17C Block 3 would take the shape of the JF-17B tail. So the tail of JF-17B was changed to compensate some aerodynamic changes produced by the twin seat configuration and not an evolution to a better concept.

Artillery ammunition sent by Pakistan to Ukraine is badly needed because there is nowhere else for Ukraine to get extra ammunition and the shells are used by Ukraine to bleed Russia. Currently we are helping Pakistan by providing a bail out loan to replenish its foreign exchange reserves. It would be reasonable to increase the bail out loan amount and in exchange for Pakistan to agree to stop sending ammunition to Ukraine.

I am disappointed by the attitude of the three Pakistani commentators who have responded. None of you seem particularly concerned about China's strategic interest in preventing Russian collapse. Pakistan should recognize China's concerns and present a first offer. In exchange for not sending ammunition to Ukraine, what should China deliver to Pakistan?

My post has to do with defense production and is on topic. I think you raise the trivial issue of mis-categorization because you don't want to address the topic at hand.

It's a slippery slope once you start dealing like that. It's essentially allowing someone to successfully hedge a strategy of blackmail against you where you give them something and they simply don't do anything. They will get used to that and learn that when dealing with you, they don't have to offer anything back; they just have to create some trouble and then not follow through to get free things from you. Only make exchanges where both sides give and take. The benign response to this type of offer is to reject it. The more aggressive reaction is to cause a larger problem for the blackmailer so that he rescinds his actions in exchange for you rescinding yours. But there are two further points.

1. China and Pakistan have a very amicable relationship so this blackmail exchange is not on the table. If there are problems, the countries can talk and work it out reasonably.

2. Pakistani ammunition is not going to make a difference to Ukraine or Russia. See all the US puppets bleeding themselves out to give to Ukraine? Pakistan's little gift is a drop in an ocean. If Pakistan has its own reasons to do this, whether it be revenge for Russia supplying India or to gain something from the West, China doesn't necessarily need to stop it.
