I think you're forgetting about the alleged first ever astronaut, Wan Hu of the Ming Dynasty!

As the story goes, the government official Wan Hu decided to launch himself into outer space. He dressed himself in his most splendid clothes and sat in a chair with 47 rockets attached to it. He ordered his servants to light the fuses, they did so and ran for cover. A few moments later there was a huge explosion, and Wan Hu was never seen again.

Chinese Americans sometimes are not thought of as being creative but they are and sometimes don't get recognized in their times. Except for world renowned architect I.M. Pei dubbed by PBS as an American Master.

Hey guys I was watchin C-span 2 and a Prof Yunte Huang wrote a book about Chang Apana a Chinese detective in Hawaii that inspired the Charlie Chan character.

Quite Amazing, I was actually thinking Chin Ho Kelly was the first chinese movie cop character until watching some cartoon one day about "The amazing Chan and me? something like that anyway
