This is the kind of times when Chinese govt needs to step up and offer money for the AI engineers to stay in China but at a different firm.
This news first appeared last year, ''Microsoft China'' wanted to relocate Ai researchers in Canada/USA but as per the local source Permission denied by the Local government..
and right now China has very big Ai industry with massive demand of talent so these researchers could easily hire by any local Ai company with good salary package.
This sounds too good to be true. Can you post some evidence showing that Microsoft's attempt to plunder China's human resources got shut down? I was not aware the local government could shut something like this down. Can't Microsoft just give those employees new job offers in the US with green card sponsorship? How can the Chinese government block those employees from simply flying to the US?
if there is any Link available i would love to share on this forum .. but i have heard this news from my source. after tech war a lot things have changed. its all about National security.. Chinese government have full power and authority to stop any deal.
this news first appeared in 2023. but Microsoft failed to relocate all those researchers. it means something happened.

even Chinese researchers don't want to leave home country because of obvious reasons..

So far it had been a win-win relationship between Microsoft and China.
Microsoft was training top-notch talent for China which later produced their own start-ups or poached by Chinese AI companies, and as a return Microsoft was using that talent to further enchance its global competitiveness. All parties were happy with this arrangement
This move by Microsoft to move it's Chinese talent to the US is breaking this arrangement. As a result, the Chinese gov should intervene to even the board.
It doesn't have to be public. Just getting the personal info of the employees and distributing it to the recruiter agencies or recruiting departments of major Chinese AI companies would let the invisible hand of the market do it's job and poach them from Microsoft.
You don't have to be all sticks or using hard methods. Soft methods also work.
