Two more Chinese cancer drugs have been approved by the FDA. China’s pharmaceutical industry is seeing very healthy growth.
The lion's share of profits (20x to 40x) will be owned by US companies that will have the rights to market and distribute in the US. It sucks but it is what it is.

Ok that makes more sense. And there's been some massive growth in China's private rocket companies and launch services, SOEs will have their hands full with existing military/recon satellites launches. If they want to ramp up to a few thousand satellites a year, they will have to lean on the private sector heavily.
also this is from GEO satellites. Their own version of starlinks consist of 12992 satellites I think in LEO orbit. That should start lauching soon

I feel like they're bullshitting about the top speed. 500 Gbps is very very good even with high end fiber optic. For reference Starlink averages by 100 Mbps and

Even Huawei's satellite can only get 600Mbps. Maybe they got the M and G mixed up.

Also coverage over China will need few thousand Sat into LEO. Not impossible by 2025 but it will need a massive expansion of the private launch sector to get it done in time.
The 500Gbps figure may mean differen things depending on the definitions. In one way it is total throughput of the constallation to or from outside networks through ground gateways. Since many satellites talk to ground gateways simutanously, it is only a matter of number of satellites who have good coverage to ground gateways.

Starlink's average 100 Mbps is per UE downlink speed.
Huawei's max 660Mbps is per satellite downlink speek. Think of a satellite as a cell tower that serves many UEs simutanously.

500 gbps is the bandwidth of the entire network not a single satellite. Launches are most likely ASIC or CAST or some other SOE if it is indeed real; the satellites are what is privately manufactured.
The satellite (龙江三号/Longjiang-3) is developped by the famous Harbin Institute of Technology and produced by its own company both SOEs. The satellte was launched by KZ-1A of CASIC, an SOE.

Not aiming at you, but since a lot of people here have some kind of fetish of "privae company" and must label a rocket with private, I must emphasize that SOE is not a government agency like ministry, they are commercial companies not different from "private" companies. Their only standing-out characteristic is that they are majorly owned by the state through the same legal framework of corperate, there are private investments in them to various degrees. They follow the same laws and rules besides state having a dominate say in decisions as the dominate share holder. The point is that there is really no reason to emphasize "private" or SOE, they are all just companies.

75% of Apple’s Top 200 Suppliers Produce in China, Report Says

Apple has revealed for the first time that its 200 main suppliers account for 98 percent of the US tech giant’s procurement, and three-quarters of them assemble its products in China, according to a report by The Paper.

Some 151 of the 200 manufacture in China, the report said yesterday, citing data Apple disclosed at the ongoing first China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing.

Chinese firms have become global leaders in smart manufacturing, said Isabel Ge Mahe, vice president and managing director of Apple China. They have the chance to produce the latest products for Apple, such as the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, which will be made by Luxshare Precision Industry, she noted.

To enhance smart manufacturing processes and levels, Apple engineers will bring new technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to production lines to help the supply chain move toward smart manufacturing, Mahe pointed out.

Apple and three of its suppliers, Lens Technology, Bozhon Precision Industry Technology, and Shenzhen Everwin Precision Technology, are taking part in the CISCE, the world's first national supply chain exhibition, which runs from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.

At the expo, Suzhou-based Bozhon, an maker of automation equipment that became an Apple supplier in 2010, exhibited its multi-function visual testing platform, which can be used to check the screws, glass appearance defects, and dimensions of products.

Bozhon delivered more than 1,000 types of equipment annually on average to Apple in recent years, with the total number exceeding 10,000 and covering more than 180 foundries across 13 other countries.

[Exclusive] Moderna’s Shanghai Production, R&D Center to Cover Entire mRNA Vaccines Chain

The production, research, and development center US vaccine maker Moderna has recently started constructing in Shanghai will cover the entire production chain of messenger RNA vaccines, Yicai learned.

Moderna’s new center will cover the whole development and production of mRNA vaccines, from the formulation of substances to the production of medicines and personalization of new antigens, sources recently told Yicai. However, it is unclear which products will be produced at the center.

Moderna announced in July that it would set up its Chinese headquarters in Shanghai’s Minhang district to promote the research, development, production, and sales of mRNA vaccines and drugs in China.

The company’s production and R&D center in Shanghai began construction on Nov. 6. Covering an area of about 180,000 square meters, the plant is expected to achieve an annual output value of CNY1.5 billion (USD210 million) once completed.

The investment in the first phase of the center is about CNY3.6 billion (USD507.7 million), Yicai learned from the agreement Moderna signed with the Minhang district government. The total investment may reach USD1 billion.

Moderna’s new production and R&D center is expected to have an upgrading effect on China’s biomedical industry, similar to the effect of the Shanghai gigafactory of US electric carmaker Tesla on the new energy vehicle industry, and enhance the country’s whole mRNA supply chain, according to industry insiders.

Adopting the mRNA technology can drastically shorten the drug development cycle from between six and nine months to 48 hours, as well as reduce R&D costs, a senior mRNA researcher told Yicai. Moreover, mRNA vaccines have a simple production process, requiring no cell culture, and mRNA drugs do not enter the cell nucleus, reducing the risk of integration into the host genome, the researcher noted.

Moderna will initially bring to China more than 30 investigational and marketed products against infectious, cardiovascular, liver, rare, and autoimmune diseases, as well as individually tailored therapies for tumors, the firm said.

Moderna hopes to complete clinical trials and new drug registrations in China and achieve production localization, Yicai learned.

Given the sharp decline in the demand for Covid-19 vaccines, Moderna’s third-quarter sales early halved to USD1.8 billion from a year earlier, according to the firm’s latest earnings report. Moderna logged a loss of over USD3.6 billion in the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with a profit of more than USD1 billion in the same period last year.

Moderna expects a revenue of between USD6 billion and USD8 billion for this year and about USD4 billion for next year.

Scanning and Splicing Atom Lithography for Self-traceable Nanograting Fabrication.​


Atom lithography is a unique method to fabricate self-traceable pitch standards and angle standards, but extending its structure area to millimeter-level for application is challenging. In this paper, on the one hand, we put forward a new approach to fabricate a full-covered self-traceable Cr nanograting by inserting and scanning a Dove prism in the Gaussian beam direction of atom lithography. On the other hand, we extend the structure area along the standing-wave direction by splicing two-step atom deposition. Both nanostructures manufactured via scanning atom lithography and splicing atom lithography demonstrate good pitch accuracy, parallelism, continuity, and homogeneity, which opens a new way to fabricate centimeter-level full-covered self-traceable nanograting and lays the basis for the application of square ruler and optical encoders at the nanoscale.
