Scientists from Harbin Institute of Technology in the Weihai campus created tiny robots powered directly by microwave. The four-leg crawling robot is only 15mm long and weighs 0.42 gram.

I will try to move the OS discussion here. Since China is looking to replace 50 million computers with domestic systems. They will inevitably use Chinese OS. Right now, it seems like there are a few options.
There is the 统信UOS

the 银河麒麟

Although the two Kylin seems to be combined into one
and also Deepin

Based on this it looks like Kylin have more software developed for it and more compatible hardware for it. Both cases the number is not high.

If you look at Kylinos website, it seems like all the well known domestic CPU producers are using them. It's used in both server and desktop OS, so all the cloud providers also support them.

I personally don't think it's a big deal that they don't have that many compatible software right now. MacOS and Chrome also had a fraction of the applications that windows has. They just need to make sure the computers themselves can serve the professional market first before they move elsewhere.
Deepin is not a lightweight linux distro, it feels sluggish on a i3.

Deepin is very limited so far, definitely not on par with the like of ubuntu or Debian, however, if the OS supports WeChat, WPS office, QQ, plus some FTP/HTTP/SCP and so on, with some more recovery/secure features updated it can suit 90% of the domestic workstation. one Problem with Linux is that they are not as user friendly as windows, and the more terminal command involved the less appear it will have for the average consumer. best for these distro development teams to focus on a specific professional realm first, or they can intergrade many applications features into Cloud-based which can be accessed either via browser or as an electron app, that's how I use WeChat on manjaro anyway.

P.S.: The Wechat team really does not give a fuck about any demands from their 1 billion domestic audience do they? where is the Linux version?

With Chinese cloud market growth slowing down, Huawei is putting a lot of effort into worldwide expansion (but especially in ASEAN countries)

they don't have cloud data centers in 170 countries, but they are offering services to 170 countries.

But more specifically, this is the important part
Till now, there are 4000 ICT talents in Asia-Pacific. By the next five years, this count will come up to 500,000 ICT talents.
There was the story about Indonesia a while back that was published on Carnegie endowment

And of course, Thailand is their other major focus market

They are also in other ASEAN countries, but it sounds like they are making an even bigger push now. In many ways, this sounds like Alibaba Cloud's project Asia Forward.

and earlier this year, they launched a program called LEAP to train ICT talents in sub-saharan Africa

example here in Zambia

I think they have about 30% cloud market share in Thailand, so it's pretty reasonable for them to focus on Thailand and Indonesia.

According to this article, ministers from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Bangladesh were in Bangkok for Huawei's annual technology showcase to Southeast Asia. Huawei said it will invest $100 million until 2024 for 100000 developers.

They are expanding cloud data centers in Ireland and Indonesia. Interesting choice with Ireland there.

After this, Huawei will hold events in Dubai and Paris after this.

Nice, maybe i should read up on Huawei's cloud services.

It is NOT Fusion reactor.

Here is the paper in question
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
I agree that the Z-FFR is not a fusion reactor. The fusion part doesn't generate any net energy. Only the fission part does that.

The reactor is hybrid. It has a small fusion device to generate fast neutrons to bombard natural uranium in a fission reactor. The fission reactor is where most the emerge is generated. The fission reactor also generate Tritium which is fed back to the fusion device as fuel. The fusion device is actually creating some continues explosions.
The Z-FFR looks like a fast neutron breeder reactor that uses Z-pinch fusion to generate the neutrons. This could be a great solution to the fast-neutron shortage that has been holding back the breeders.

Fast breeders can burn U-238, which is 140 times more abundant than U-235 -- on land. The oceans hold so much U-238 that the fuel can last us millions of years, even if the world should use only the fast breeders for its energy needs.

Another advantage is that fast breeders can burn up ALL the fuel. Current fission reactors use up only 1% of their U-235, wasting the remaining 99%; that is why people have been talking about reprocessing. With fast breeders, no reprocessing will be necessary, which makes the U-238 last even longer.

If we rely mostly on solar or wind, and use the Z-FFR only for what Sabine Hossenfelder calls Dunkelflaute (no sun, no wind), the Uranium would probably last a geological era.

The Z-FFR -- if it works -- could indeed be a breakthrough.
