That guy went to MIT already back in 2018. And he did his PhD at Princeton, so he has a long-standing connection to the university.
He was back at Peking for a few years but he is now at Princeton. The big problem is that till now math research has not been a priority as other topics so it does become difficult. So even today the best Chinese mathematicians work at foreign universities.

I did not say one . I said the best mathematician left. You can criticise about something you don't like. For a country like China which dominates math education more ground breaking research should be done. Don't give me a list of inventiones papers . They are a small fraction of papers that are published over the year around the world. When compared to other research areas like CS, material science, CMP, optics etc math research in china needs to improve. They are still behind the best.
