Its your good ol' ERA. Probably similar how some versions of the Ukranian Nozh work which had shapped charges to cut through the a projectile

The vermilion article mentions that the Type-99a had multiple failures during the Russian victory day parade in 2015. Not sure what he is talking about because it was never at that parade.

Probably referring to the Chinese 9.3 parade of the same year (in which Russian soldiers also participated in), and while it did indeed have malfunctions in the parade rehearsals, I don't think any issues were encountered during the actual parade itself. Not a significant error given the context of the article itself, but certainly not doing anything to improve its credibility either. In any case, reliability was subsequently improved in the following years.

Also not helping the credibility of Vermillion's 'reworking' of the article that failed to catch this error also
