p.s. Interestingly Type 96A & VT-4 still uses older 2A46 variant. Note the different breech block design. I do wonder about supply chain annoyances though.

What does this say about the rounds that both tanks can use? As long as the ammo is the same, penetration should be equivalent I would think.

Not sure really. That should be the business of the autoloader carousel and how much pressure the gun can handle.

Tankograd did say 2A46M has improved accuracy through new recoil buffer design (2 smaller buffers mounted diagonally).

They say that helps to balance the rearward recoil stroke so the muzzle wouldn't occilate as much during the rearward recoil motion, therefore increasing accuracy.

Back in mid 90s there is major discussion about the vulnerbility of t72 tank,particular her carousel auto loader.but they decided to copy it
