The Type 99A2 is still larger and heavier than the MBT-3000 and has a more powerful engine, think of it like Type 96 and Type 99 basic version.

newer t-72MS interior were cover with kevlar anti-spalling lining.and the entire carousel auto loading was incase in steel box.spare ammo was store outside the turrent ,in rear cabin.
both were absent from older T-72 and T-80.

But the tank shown on the assembly line in that list of photos isn't the Type-99A2 though. The chassis is different.

I can't read Chinese, so my question is, are the images of the tank on the assembly line of a different tank from the images of the interior?

Does anyone here know anything about China's R&D on material science? specifically armor? How is china's armor technology compared to say Chobham or the latest Western armor with ceramics, depleted uranium reinforced armor, composites etc?

Command position of the ZTZ99A. Pretty much the same like the new MBT-3000, albeit with one MFD more.

The two stacked MDFs besides the commander periscope seem to be used as GPS/BDS navigation moving map and/or combat team management displays.
