Agreed, but if You take a look at the size of the missile and esp. the point where the pylon should be attached ... should be on the out-wing pylon and not on the middle of the wing ! Here the one on the left seems to be attached over the PLAAF-star+bar-symbol !

No. The missiles are outboard of the wing center. Look carefully at the wing. Where is the middle of the wing? The inner edge of the forward wing slat. Where are the missiles? Each is justly located outside of the inner edge, which puts them outward of the wing's center.

Okay, it would help us if we pay attention to the following points:

1. The position of the 2 missiles/pylons. The missile nearer to the foreground seem to be coming out way too in front. i.e. the front part of the missile is no more underneath the wing whereas the other missile (towards the background) is completely under the wing.
This would mean the missiles themselves are PSed.

No. Each of the missiles are under the wing slats, which start from the middle of the wing. Since the missiles are exactly midway of the slat, they are all roughly 3/4ths out into the wing, which should be the correct position.

2. Even if you consider the angle of view effect which make the missiles seem slightly out of place, the "effect" in the photo show the exact opposite! (see point no. 1 above). It would be easier to see if you have a model airplane to simulate).

Sorry, but the position of the missiles are in fact, still 100% correct.

3. The reflection of the leading edge of the slats look different because of point no. 1 above.

4. I did a cut & paste and found out that the angles of the slats in the two images are exactly the same.

I did a magnification of the image under MS Paint. There is a slight difference in the angle of the slat of the lower plane from the above.

The reflection is longer because the lower plane has a slightly different angle from the plane above. So you are in fact, contradicting yourself.

5. The pilots' helmets. (It look exactly the same to me)

Because both pilots are looking at the third J-10, which is the one taking the picture.

6. The digits of the serial numbers look distorted. Why are other parts of the image (like the star banner) are not distorted as much?

In addition, it won't be possible to compare pixels to pixels as the picture is probably manually photo-scanned and therefore they are bound to be different.

P.S. How do I post the picture so that it display right away instead of having it as attachment and to click on it?

Lol, because that is a problem when you have low contrast pixels of a different color matched against a background of another low contrast set of pixels. It does not create very distinct edges. Another is that these letters are spray painted using a stencil template. Almost every picture I have seen of these letters have a blurred effect on it that is not helped because these pictures are scanned from magazines printed in relatively low quality paper.

The first picture is PSed. Let you guys figure out.

Excuse me. There is a perfectly simple way to get such a picture above. You can do it using long term exposure. The way the background lights are, makes it clearly that this picture is taken with a prolonged exposure, which means longer than 1/30th of a second. I am guessing ISO 800 at perhaps 1/8th.

Let me first point out to you that the picture happens to be from the back of a magazine, and thus it is professionally taken. And that is the same magazine the other two pictures are also coming from. Its all part of a series of pictures.

There is even a consistent time series in the pictures. The first one, taken at night, was just before dawn when the planes (exactly the ones on the other pictures) are being prepped. Then at the break of down, the two planes have been towed to the runaway, which are the other two pictures.

When people PS pictures, there got to be a motivation behind. From J10's long PS history, we can clearly see that most if not all PSed works were from the early to mid days when real pics were really rare. I can see mainly 2 reasons behind those PSed pics:
1. some people would get short and instant fame on the internet since most people didn't know what a real one looked like. This was a major reason.
2. some people who did see or know J10 had to use other aircrafts' pictures to "leak" what they knew to avoid getting into any trouble.

Now, these 2 reasons don't apply to J10 any more. People just need to sit and wait for official high quality pics.

Having said that, those professional photographers do have ways to improve their works to make them look better. It's a common thing for news medias to do that. But that's for a completely different reason.

If you want to study carefully about PSed pictures, concentrate on all those Jxx works, that's what can generate the same interest as the old J10 PS works did. It's a waste of time making PSed J10s now, cause you won't get anything back.

This is an article from 中国国防报 (China national defense newspaper)

Interesting article about the average age of J-10 pilots being 30 years for one particular regiment. Saying that most pilots are top level pilots, before being equipped with J-10, they were mostly the top pilots from 2nd generation planes.

I did a magnification of the image under MS Paint. There is a slight difference in the angle of the slat of the lower plane from the above.

I found them to be exact to the best estimation that I can make. (The angles may look different because of the different length of reflections of the slats - i.e. a visual effect.)

The reflection is longer because the lower plane has a slightly different angle from the plane above. So you are in fact, contradicting yourself.

Point no. 3 and point no. 4 are not contradictory at all. The reflections is longer due to the fact that the missiles were cut & pasted and they were moved to slightly different position.

It doesn't seem at all to me that's the case. The digits look smudged and it's not anything to do with colour contrasting.

Well, I can see we have different opinions about it. Let's agree to disagree then.

On the latest pic that I say is PSed, I can think of six points that say it's so. I don't have the time to explain it so I guess I'll have to leave it to others.
