Also BYD has just shipped 700 cars to Brazil. Expecting 3000 deliveries this year.

Also Seal & dolphin will land in Brazil this year most likely

Why Nissan Sylphy is the best selling car in China for three consecutive years in 2020, 21 and 22 (second best selling in '19) is well beyond me. Sylphy is also known as the Versa in the US and Almera in Asia.
It was because they knew the market well and had great (i think undeserved) reputation.

There are tons of Chinese middle class who want a simple family car in the 10w range. At that price point the Sylphy basically hit all the key wants for these buyers: reliable, low fuel consumption, slightly premium feel brand, and most importantly their large and comfortable interior

It's why BYD is still unable to destroy the Sylphy like it's destroying other SUVs. Other than fuel consumption, Qin is still neck to neck or slightly behind in these other features.

Younger buyers who like the fast acceleration will buy a Qin, while older buyers may still prefer Sylphy for its traditional comfortable interior and its "brand power"

BYD's European plan:
  • To raise sales to about 800,000 models in Europe by 2030, with at least one car manufacturing facility in the region. It already makes buses in the region.
  • The company will run a pilot scheme for its own charging network, because of the “terrible” state of the current infrastructure, Shu said.
  • Its pilot system will include using static batteries to store energy, allowing them to charge cars quickly without the need for expensive high speed connections to the National Grid.

Notice that BYD considers Europe's charging infrastructure "terrible" and will use static batteries to charge cars in some cases, as well as building and running its own charging network.

It should be obvious that BYD wants to build its own charging infrastructure with Shell that uses its solar panels and ESS. BYD wants to make money on these charging stations.

I wrote about it here
#BYD is taking advantage of Shell's desperation for the upcoming 2035 EU fossil fuel car ban. Shell will build its charging network and since it won't national grid as much, BYD gets to sell its own ESS product and solar panels to these new charging stations. Great win for BYD.

Tesla continues to downgrade its product. If you followed the Chinese social media after the Tesla Investor day, the only thing people got out of that was cost cuts. Needless to say, Tesla brand is in a free fall in China.
Isn't the removal of the ultrasonic sensors going to allow Tesla to go even deeper on price cuts?

Sure their brand may get damaged but if they can shave off, dunno the actual costs, $1000 from their car's price surely that's worth it more when trying to fight for market share by having a cheaper car

Tesla isn't going to go bankrupt. This kind of brand damage is long term. Losing your ability to charge premium long term is a huge problem for a brand.
