Is the cost not too low enough already ? lol You think they can still go even lower? . I’ll be surprise if they can sell even cheaper than what they are selling now without taking losses .That will be more than a bloodbath for themselves and everybody else. Last I remembered it’s not just the Chinese government that was uncomfortable with the unsustainable never ending price wars for market share, even BYD executives complained about this as well.BYD was the king due to its ruthless ability to scale down the cost. It is able to win price war consistently. These days CPC is limiting involution, so now BYD's advantage diminished.
So I don’t think any player was happy about the situation. More like they had no choice than to follow suite once a competitor made such a move to remain more competitive and maintain their share. But it wasn’t a sustainable method. Need to compete on other aspects other than just price, and differentiate your products. If price is the only sector they can compete on then they won’t be a dominant player in the long run. There are several other more critical sectors and aspects to compete on as well. After all, they sell their cars in European countries like Britain at almost similar prices to their European competitors, so they can’t rely only on price to compete , that will be a mistake.
