Do we have a thread for general EV technology?

IEEE Spectrum has an article on an Oak Ridge designed wireless EV charger that can charge at 270 kW. I don't really think the tech is specific to the US since is a collaboration between Oak Ridge and Volkswagen along with funding from the Department of Energy, Hyundai and Stellantis.

Lots more at the link.

Mods can delete this post of move it if it is too out of sync with the rest of this thread.
It should just be here. Not every NEV related discovery will be China related

lols at some point in time they should realise that chinese passenger car market is stabilising at 30m unit yearly
There is a chance that the passenger car market will reach 40m a decade from now. It all depends upon how cost-efficiently EVs can be produced. Purchasing power increase through a general rise in Chinese incomes couples with falling costs of automobiles will result in more demand.
rushing to the bottom only kill the margin for everyone and stress the income of workers.
It is normal state of affairs in an industry experiencing rapid technological improvements. The goal should be to massively increase R&D expenditure and then offset that through maximum number of sales.
For workers who work in research, their incomes are increasing and this is the section that matters the most. The frontline factory workers can be replaced by automation, the only reason factories don't fully automate their factories is because the state also cares about jobs.

All this vicious competition you see in this sector is a temporary affair, there will be consolidation, the tech development will slow down and the industry will stabilize as a whole.

Trudeau will put a 666% tariff on it.

Yeah, Canadian politicians are pathetic. They're saying, "We need to protect our domestic auto industry from China". Uh, WHAT domestic auto industry? All you have are a bunch of assembly plants owned by American and Japanese car companies.

But as bad as Trudeau is, Pierre Poilievre hates China so much he would just ban Chinese cars completely, on "national security grounds" or whatever nonsense he'd conjur up.

More like the “International Community” is pathetic.
