One of the Japanese Big Three auto makers will collaborate with Huawei on Autopilot . I hope it's Toyota.
I hope not. I hope Toyota should not be given a helping hand by a prominent Chinese company like Huawei. What's the upside? Toyota has been funding a lot of these anti-ev publications and misinformation against EV especially when their own effort was anemic and frankly irresponsible from the start.

I say, they should be allowed to whittle and die, and let another Japanese industry "innovate" itself out of the mess they brought upon to themselves.

As the inventors of lithium-ion and having one of the largest battery companies in the world, i.e. Panasonic, you would expect Japan's EV segment to be doing better. Unfortunately Japanese legacy auto is stuck onto combustion engines due to their fossil management.

The Toyota Prius was revolutionary when it came out. But current Toyota management is just brain dead.

I remember reading (here on SDF) that Japan's auto industry bet on the wrong horse, deciding to focus investment on hydrogen vehicles instead of EVs. Seems kind of foolish to not play to their strengths (LI batteries) and instead go all in on a much less mature tech with much more unknowns.

why does it matter? if they are working with Huawei, they will just work with another ADAS firm in China. There is no shortage of them.
