Some pretty surprising non-EV news:

Mazda 3 dropped prices to just 8.99w for 1.5L MT version and 9.99w for 2.0L 6AT

This is a car that used to sell for 13-17w just a couple years back and supposedly half a level more premium than other Japanese cars like Corolla/Sentra.

Rise of EVs is forcing crazy price cuts

I've test drove the new Mazdas, and I can't believe how over-inflationed their prices are. MX-50 for example. A newly introduced 2023 SUV with 6AT, torsion bar suspension, and extremely underpowered base engine selling for ~$50K in Canada. AND wait times are over a year. Mazda must have crazy margins for each of their cars sold.

Why is there a shortage of Japanese cars in North America? Hopefully superior Chinese EV will drive down prices.

From my own sentiment, there's starting to be widespread acceptance of EREVs as proper EV whereas in the past many looked down on Li Auto for not being a "proper" PHEV
It isn't about being proper or not (though EREV always face risk of different legal treatment). It's simply that the customer groups don't exactly match - and among people whom i know, Li was chosen precisely because of the "ER" part. Not slighting their superb quality here, but Li's outstanding feature is exactly that they aren't BEVs.

huge NEV market in China for heavy industries. Looks like hydrogen FCEVs are getting some pretty large orders here.

All these civil engineering vehicle manufacturers love to use foreign-branded diesel engines for their machines instead of Weichai or Yuchai, etc. But even Weichai also inexplicably uses foreign brands in some of the machines let alone Sany, Shantui and Liugong.
