Considering Vietnam is at ~2009 China GDP per capita levels and many many times smaller this is actually quite an impressive achievement.
If Vietnam is really at China-2009 level, VinFast's achievement isn't really that impressive. Especially as the company is probably importing most of the critical parts, especially the batteries, and merely assembling the vehicles in Vietnam.

China itself made the Hongqi CA72 in 1959 -- and remember, in 1959 China was still under nearly total embargo by the West (and would remain under sanctions until Nixon's visit in 1972). So China probably had to make most of the car itself. Now that was impressive.

2023 will be a big year For BYD internationally.

BYD is attending the Paris motor show in October. I'd anticipate them to announce entry into a few more countries.

Remember, BYD had entered into agreement with Shell on building EV charging across China and Europe

This is from back in March

BYD found new semiconductor company in Shaoxing. It does this a lot with various IC and battery locations.

now, interesting stuff I read about their semiconductor business. Apparently, they currently only have enough production for about 1 to 1.1 million cars. So, they still have to buy chips for outside. I don't know their fab plans, but I'm assuming they are building up fabs for their production, because they hate relying on the outside.

and I would say with domestic DUV available in the near horizon and their stated goal of producing their own self driving chips, they are probably going to get in on that business also. Initially, just for their own production, but they will definitely be selling them after they can meet their own needs.

Totally didn't know this, but there are actually Facebook groups for Atto 3 in both Australian and NZ. NZ got their Atto 3 first and are testing it. Long video between EV fans on Atto 3 out of Aussie/NZ. They are pretty excited waiting for it.

Seems like they have also started shipping the cars to Australia now with some people being notified of their cars in transit. For me, pretty cool to see BYD making some initial marks here. Looks like the down under market is seriously lacking options. BYD order numbers for Atto 3 are pretty healthy for an unknown brand in Australia. From here, I guess it's going to be spread by word of month.

I believe Western Capital Group LLC is 100% by Berkshire Hathaway. It has 225 million equities or 7.73%. The figure 225 million matches your link under the name of Berkshire Hathaway. The figure 20.5% in your link is the percentage of tradable shares in all exchanges, which is 7.73% of the total shares.

The number one holder is actually under the name HKSCC NOMINEES LIMITED which is HK exchange house, 827 million 29%. HKSCC isn't the real owner but rather every other smaller owner's share would be put under its name.
