New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

I mean, at the end of the day, it's only 2000 dollars (although shipping, taxes etc. does make it quite a lot costlier), can't expect an actual truck (also advised as mini as well).

What's more, one of the commenters on the video puts it pretty good: "essentially a more practical golf car" and also kind of an electric version of kei trucks in Japan lol.

Which can very much be pretty darn useful.
Yep, The guy himself said when deciding to buy , this mini truck beats alternatives around same price range. It’s got air con, it’s enclosed good for rainy days, and even got autom dump bin

Glad you asked and hope somebody can provide an insight. I know some companies are using Nidec and I always ask why they can't give the local companies a break!

I can't say for other companies, but BYD produces it all in house. All batteries, power chips (IGBT, SIC, MCUs, 8-in-1 drive train and e 3.0 platform was all developed in house. They also developed DM-i, DM-p, which are at the forefront of PHEV. They don't really sell it to other companies yet, because they have enough trouble producing them for their own cars. That is expected to change in the 2nd half of this year.

Built upon the e-platform 3.0, the unveiled Ocean-X concept is a mid-size sporty sedan with high performance. The Ocean-X brings brand new experiences in performance and intelligent driving thanks to the fully integrated blade batteries in the car body, an 8-in-1 electric powertrain, and an all-wheel-drive architecture.

And the overall efficiency is right up there with Tesla. Tesla is at 90% and BYD e 3.0 is over 89%. IIRC, the battery utilization on BYD Seal is better than model 3 by quite a bit.

Tesla told Car and Driver that the motor in the Model S has gone from 80 percent efficient to 90 percent

The e-Platform 3.0 features key modules that are smaller, lighter, more powerful, and consume less energy. It also comes with new heat pump technology and an upgraded electric drive system with 8-in-1 modules that can deliver a combined efficiency of over 89 percent.
Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Drip have already cooperated with BYD to develop electric vehicles, e-Platform 3.0 will continue to be open and shared with the industry, and in the near future, electric vehicles developed based on e-Platform 3.0 will be active in various scenarios of intelligent electric mobility.

However, it is worth noting that BAIC Motor has invested 20 billion ($3.08 billion) to build its own platform, while Changan Auto has jointly developed an EV platform with Huawei and CATL.

In addition, with Huawei and other technology companies entering the smart car field, they are also in direct competition with BYD in some hardware and chip businesses.

BYD's e 3.0 is world class. But I expect Huawei's electric drive train to be world class also.

Nidec makes all kinds of electric motors. I'm not sure how many EV motors they make. In fact, I'm not sure if any of the top electric motor makers in the world makes EV motors as their main business.

Here is the information I find about EV motor makers. You won't find more detailed market analysis unless you are willing to pay thousands of dollars. Anyway, according to Mordor Intelligence, there are 5 major EV motor manufactures in the world currently: Tesla, BYD and BAIC from China, and Toyota and Aisin Seiki from Japan. TBH, I think all of China's major EV makers produce their electric motors in house. They will soon become major players in the world as their sales increase rapidly.
  • Toyota Motor Corporation.
  • Aisin Seiki Co Ltd.
  • BYD Co. Ltd.
  • Tesla Inc.
  • BAIC

Actually, kind of disappointing. I think they are still having real supplier/recall issues. This was suppose to hit 140k in original plan I think

Han 25,439
Song 32.07 (huge backlog here for DM-i version)
Tang 8,134 (heard this is the one affected by recalls and supplier issues)
Qin 26,623
Yuan 19,731
Destroyer 05 7,464 (again, having supplier issue in ramping up)
Dolphin 10,376 (I think the production here is delayed also)
Remaining 3918 (e series and song max dm-i)

Ideally, they'd just be able to stop e series production asap and convert all that production over to dynasty series.

In total, 68,195 BEV and 66,302 PHEV

Battery production 6.859 GWh (includes car motor and energy storage). May number was 6.203 GWh.

Since they are a little behind the original project I got here

my guess is they might not hit 200k a month until October. Unlikely to hit 2 million in 2022. Probably 1.6 to 1.7 million.
