India is never going to get it together. The optimism they have for themselves is not from a track record of their own successes but only from seeing China's successes believing they have to be able to do better because they follow the West while China doesn't. They will never address the problems that will have to be fixed because they think they will automictically come being superior to China and they follow the Western way of doing things. These days the West is losing to China so that ain't so good for India. And I bet the penchant for Indians to predict what year they will surpass China actually works against them because all of them are just sitting back doing nothing waiting for it to happen.

This is one of a number of articles that talk about how much China hates the iD from VW. Just how uncompetitive is this thing?


In China, you expect a large touchscreen with the features of a smartphone eg. voice control, internet search, Tiktok video streaming, video recording, customised themes, chat apps, split screens, an app store etc

From what I can see, the VW infotainment system has none of these.

Germans are crap at electronics. They even had trouble getting common rail injection to work initially. And they are even worse at software. The traditional auto brands just don't invest much in software and hardware. And unlike with other electronic vehicular components where you have established suppliers like Bosch you can't find the same thing in infotainment.

The trend these days is that those companies found their own "innovation centers" that mimic Silicon Valley's development cultures.

German and wanna-be-white Japanese automakers are going to be massacred.
The less Germany sells to China, the more hostile it will act towards it.


Human rights and all that stuff is meaningless. Its all about the $$$

Basically, ID series is too expensive and the range is too short. Not sure how you can charge a lot of money when people are comparing it to the BYD Dolphin.

Alright, CATL continues to pick up business. This with BMW. They are going to need to build larger European factories, maybe in Hungary. The labor cost and business environment is more friendly in Hungary than Germany. Although, they probably need to expand on their German factory too.

Alright, BYD is look to get a lot larger in Brazil. Let's hope that means Han has been doing well there. The local sales price right now for Han is very high. I don't know how real it is, but $110k for BYD Han is absurd

Frigate 07 is going to get launched tomorrow. I know, a lot of BYD new models in May. Apparently, new technologies will be unveiled. This might be the flagship PHEV for BYD.

The problem with expense and lack of range of VW electrics is due to them still using the same production base as in the internal combustion cars.

In 5 year's time, I reckon you could buy an off the shelf infotainment system.

But until standards are established, everyone will have to customise the infotainment system to the electric vehicle components
