New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Korean battery makers don't have any batteries with LFP chemistries, which means they are screwed.

Only the Chinese companies are mass producing these batteries at scale and the patents that prevent the use of which prevent LFP batteries from being used internationally will finally expire this year.

So we'll also see more Chinese companies opening up battery plants overseas
If the LFP batteries patents expire, does that mean any body can copy the technology?

Are there Chinese designers at Lotus or are they all European designers?

I'm pretty sure there are, given that Lotus (Europe/UK) would have zero experience when it comes to the platform design and manufacturing of an EV. Maybe Lotus does the exterior and interior styling, but what makes it tick as an electric car would be Geely's job. The Lotus CEO is also Chinese.

Just thinking about what a head start Chinese battery makers got from continuously improving on the density of lfp batteries and lowering the cost of production from all those large factories they built, I don't see how the Koreans can compete.

Lotus has a very strong engineering and tuning division, so maybe they would be deployed to improve ride quality of Geely EVs
