If anything expect an increase in EV subsidies, precisely to get away from oil faster. Having the greens in govt won't hurt either.
Have you looked at nickel prices? And where will you get the electricity to power those EVs?

Guess who is the world's #3 nation in nickel production who just got sanctioned.
Guess which is the largest nickel company in the world. Norilsk Nickel.

Guess which battery chemistry the Panasonic cells in Tesla's plants in the US use.

The industry will have to massively switch to Lithium Iron Phosphate Chemistry.
Of which the largest supplier will be CATL.

Thanks Biden. :)

As I recall nickel is also big in Southeast Asia. Time to work with Southeast Asian countries for mining

Chinese made Teslas wouldn’t be impacted though, or would it?

Indonesia followed by Philippines.

The largest private nickel producer in China is already mining and distlling nickel in Indonesia. There has been rumor that this company lost big (up to 8 billion USD) just recently because it expected long term price drop and was short selling nickel contracts on LME. The rumor was later denied as "total nonsense".

Only one not taking a hit at all would be BYD

And CATL... and the 10 other Chinese battery developers and makers formed by partnerships of various Chinese tech companies.

We heard that NIO, XPeng, Huawei Dongfeng, and a few others like Xiaomi are all getting their battery tech divisions started.

BYD and CATL are tech and market leaders with zero peers... LG and Panasonic are comparable. Other Chinese tech companies want to get in on this action. There is no lack of talent, funding, or infrastructure. Having seen just CATL's labs and manufacturing facilities, one would think they were living in 2050.

I don't see how CATL is not taking a small hit from this. BYD should be the only one not noticing this nickel price hike caus their batteries are 100% lfp
